Seven-year Tour de France champion and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong visited campus last Tuesday as part of a four-city tour to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. Armstrong came to DU for LIVESTRONG Day, the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) annual nationwide mobilization of its many supporters, which took place during more than 600 simultaneous events in all 50 states on May 13.
The Democratic National Convention will be held in Denver from Monday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 28, and DU is doing some of the hosting. "We will be housing the Democratic National Convention Committee that is located here in Denver and they will be given a certain amount of beds in Centennial Halls and Centennial Towers," said Melanie Eaton, assistant director of conference and event services.
With the 2007-08 school year quickly coming to a close, it is time to look back at what an amazing year DU athletics had. Just like every season there are the question marks that surround every team and the high expectations that come with representing DU and this season teams lived up to those expectations and more.
"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" has hit the big screen. It follows the 2005 "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" based on a fantasy novel of the same name by C.S. Lewis. The movie begins with the titular character Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes), rightful heir to the throne of the Telmarine Empire, fleeing an assassination attempt by his nefarious uncle, Lord Miraz (Sergio Castellitto).
