Dear Clarion,

Hi my name is Kaitlyn King, and I found what you wrote about me in your article titled "Basketball Finds Help Down Under," completely untrue, and frankly insulting.

As a journalist it is your obligation to report the truth.  If you are not well enough informed to write about a subject then you should leave it out of your paper.

I did not leave the University of Denver.  I am still a student here. The reason that I am not playing basketball is because of a health condition that does not allow me to play.  I found it as a defamation of character to say that I left as Louise Gronemann had, who quit the team.

Thank you,

Kaitlyn King

Dear Kaitlyn,

The information in the story about the team came from DU sports media relations..We apologize that the information was misleading. However, defimation of character is a serious charge. We do not find the information extensive enough be considered defamatory.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention,

Clarion editors

Dear Mr. Brooks Kircheimer,

I would like to bring it to your attention-as well as everyone else on this amazing campus-that your photograph covering the basketball fans in the last issue consisted of the band.

EVERYONE! LOOK CLOSELY! See the striped sleeves on the people, see the instruments?

Mr. Kircheimer I went to that basketball game, and I will speak on behalf of those students and surrounding community members who attended.

It was an incredible game, we clobbered the other team! I had to sit 10 rows back from the court just because the seats in front of me were occupied.

As we all know, our athletics support is low. Why is this? I have no idea. I've tried to answer this exact question for the past three years and now on my fourth year I have decided to notice the other side of the spectrum.

Since freshman year the attendance rate at events has improved dramatically. One example is the DUPB films on Thursday nights. Three years ago the average number was 70-80 people, now the average attendance rate super exceeds and brings it to an average of 250 people.
