Nonprofit career fair

A nonprofit and government career fair is being held tomorrow in Driscoll Ballroom from 2-5 p.m. The fair provides an opportunity for students to explore potential jobs, internships and volunteer experiences. For more information, contact the Career Center at 303.871.2150.



Alum lectures on his book

The Penrose Library and Marsico Book Club Author Lecture Series is hosting 1983 DU alum, David Von Drehle, on April 18. Von Drehle will be speaking about his book, "Triangle: The Fire That Changed America." Von Drehle currently works as the editor-at-large for Time magazine and is a former Senior Writer for the Washington Post.

Journalist receives award

The Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media at the University of Denver is presenting Jim Amoss, editor of the Times Picayune in New Orleans, with the Anvil of Freedom Award on Tuesday, April 24. The award is granted annually to an outstanding journalist for contributing to democracy.

Amoss is receiving the award for his paper's work in continuing to serve the community of New Orleans throughout a disaster, exposing the faults of FEMA, and for keeping the region's recovery efforts on the national and international agenda.

The event is from 4-8:30 p.m. and includes a reception at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. multimedia presentation on New Orleans, featuring a live jazz performance by a musician from New Orleans. All events are being held in Hamilton Hall in the Newman Center and are free and open to the public.

Lecture on Tibet

The Jackson/Ho China-East Asia Forum is hosting a lecture titled, "Shangri-La: A Chinese View of Tibet," on Thursday, April 26. Shi Zongkai, vice governor of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is the featured speaker. His responsibilities include cultural development, city construction and tourism development, the primary industry in Diqing Prefecture in the Yunnan Province.
