May Days

May Days is an annual week-long event at DU that features concerts, contests, food and inflatable activities for all students to enjoy. Most events taking place on Driscoll Lawn. The event continues today with the Daniels Campus Classic from 2-5 p.m. Tomorrow, the film "Wild Hogs" will be shown on Driscoll Lawn beginning at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Music Fest will be held from 2:30-9 p.m.

Globalization lecture

The Graduate School of International Studies is hosting a lecture Thursday titled, "Can Free Markets be a Good Guide of Globalization?"

Korkut A. Erturk, a professor in the department of economics at the University of Utah, is the featured speaker. Among many other positions, Erturk has served as a consultant to the Department of Social and Economic Affairs of the United Nations. His research subjects include economic growth and development and the history of economic though.

The lecture will take place from 12-1 p.m. in Ben Cherrington Hall, room 301. RSVP is required for this event. E-mail Joanne Evilsizer at jevilsiz@du.edu or call 303.871.2539 to reserve a spot.

Global warming activist

On Thursday, Laurie David, producer of "An Inconvenient Truth" and a global warming activist will be speaking in the Korbel Ballroom at the Colorado Convention Center, located at 700 14th St.

David is one of the founders of the Stop Global Warming Virtual March that engages numerous people to address global warming. The virtual march can be found at www.stopglobalwarming.org. Mayor John Hickenlooper is hosting and moderating the event.
