Last week DU celebrated its annual May Days with events put on by DU Programs Board with events ranging from a free barbeque to campus golf with tennis balls to a concert by several bands.

"It is important to have May Days every year to maintain a sense of tradition on campus," said DUPB Vice President of Operations Jen Sorenson. "We like to put on a program that students can look forward to year after year."

The events began with a kick-off barbeque on Driscoll Lawn. Inflatable games and a variety of vendors drew a crowd of around 750 students.

"I love May Days," said junior Jennings Maxwell Orcutt, who enjoyed a cup of ice cream on Driscoll Lawn. "At a school where people usually do their own thing, May Days is a time when everyone comes together."

On Tuesday, about 25 students competed in the Daniels Campus Classic Golf Tournament despite intermittent rain and cool temperatures. Players paid $5 to enter the tournament, and proceeds went to the Daniels Scholarship Fund.

"Wild Hogs" was screened on Wednesday night. Originally scheduled outdoors, the event was moved to Davis Auditorium due to windy conditions.

The final May Days event was Music Fest held on Thursday from 2:30 to 9 p.m. on Driscoll Lawn. Performers included Meese, Braddigan, Kenny Leung and The Undone. The concert was one of May Days most popular events drawing close to 800 people.

"Braddigan was amazing," said junior Jason Witkes. "The crowd was really into it, and everyone was dancing when they played Dispatch songs."
