AUSA Senate uses new rules for campaigning in order to raise turnout

The AUSA Senate approved new rules for Senate elections, which are being held through tomorrow.

Senators said they revised election rules to boost voter turnout and alleviate problems that had occurred in previous years.

AUSA candidates received one more day to campaign than in prior years.

Campaigning began April 29 and continues until tomorrow at 4 p.m.

Students have three days to vote, May 7 from 8 a.m. to tomorrow at 4 p.m.

All voting will take place on computers.

The results of the election will be announced by Campus Life at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

The new Senate members will be officially sworn in at the final Senate meeting of the academic year.

AUSA elections are an annual event in the spring quarter. Senators are elected for one-year terms.

The Senate's primary functions are to represent the student body before the administration and distribute student activity monies to student organizations.
