1. Coordinate your Carry-on

When packing carry-on bags, consider items you could live on if your luggage is lost. Include things such as: toothbrush, toothpaste, phone and computer chargers and even a change of clothes.

2. Weigh Your Luggage

Know how much your bag weighs before you leave. Baggage weighing over 50 pounds is often assessed a hefty fee. Baggage over 100 pounds won't be accepted anywhere.

3. Research Routes

If you research ways to get to your lodgings from the airport ahead of time, it will eliminate the hassle of trying to figure it out when you get there, and reducing the overall stress of travel.

4. Allow Time for Unknowns

Especially when traveling internationally, it is important to allow enough time to get to your gate. The standard of two hours hardly works anymore. With heightened security measures and long check-in lines, you may end up running to catch your plane.

5. Know Your Rights

Many airlines offer customers benefits if their flight is delayed by more than two hours. You may be entitled to food certificates and more. Be sure to check at the gate if you are delayed for a long period of time.
