Renewable energy panel discussion

Tonight, the DU Sustainable Energy Society and Net Impact are hosting a panel discussion on research, policy and entrepreneurship in relation to the 20 percent Renewable Energy by the Year 2020 Initiative (House Bill 1281).

Panelists will answer questions about how we can reach 20 percent renewables by 2020, what professional opportunities there are in renewables and the expected growth of that industry.

Panelists include Rick Gilliam, Jim Green and Black Jones. The event will be moderated by Jill Cooper, former senior advisor and director of sustainability for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The discussion is from 6-8 p.m. in Lindsay Auditorium in Sturm Hall. For more information or to RSVP, email duses07@yahoo.com.



Global health movie

The Global Health Affairs group and UCHSC are presenting "Salud," a movie about the global health issue, tomorrow.

The film examines the good health care system in Cuba. "Salud" shows testimonies from experts around the globe and the stories of some of the 28,000 Cuban health professionals working in more than 68 countries.

It examines the competing agendas that define the struggle for global health and the fight to make health care a birthright.

The movie begins at 5:15 p.m. in the Cyber Cafe in Ben Cherrington Hall. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Joe Foltz at jfoltz3@du.edu.



Israeli lunch lecture

Daniel Levy, director of both the New American Foundation Middle East Program and The Century Foundation's Prospects for Peace Initiative, will be speaking at a lunch lecture on Thursday. Levy has extensive experience working with policy in Israel.

He was the lead Israeli drafter of the Geneva Initiative, and jointly drafted Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.

The lecture takes place from 12-2 p.m. in Renaissance Room South of Mary Reed Hall. RSVP is requested.
