Dear Clarion,

I would like to comment on Ms. Donegan's article this week in the Clarion. While I understand the immense insecurities that come with being a woman I have to throw in the man's point of view regarding this. The mistrust you seemingly place with us because of our exes just makes us more inclined to fulfill your deepest fears. The best way to avoid having a man think about his ex and what he had before is for you to let us know that you are not concerned and that you are confident. I know that for most women this is an impossible task until the age of 23 but if somehow women could focus on that it would make every relationship more productive.

The insecurities that women demonstrate in all facets of life in their late teens and early 20s makes us men more inclined to have meaningless relationships that revolve around sex and attention. If more college women could change their habits from, "I get excessively drunk at inappropriate times, disregard social norms, and sleep with more men than is safe or reasonable" then perhaps both the insecurities that they have as well as the insecurities they feel towards men would vanish. Women must also realize that just like high school, most relationships are entirely plutonic and really just don't matter to us that much. I hope this clears up the air a little in regards to how we feel.
