There is plenty to do out there, but sometimes finding them can be difficult.
The Botanical Gardens are still in full bloom, but won't be for long. They are located at 909 York St., a quick drive or bus ride north on University Boulevard past Cherry Creek, where University splits into Josephine and York. You can't miss the parking lot on the left at about 12th Avenue.
The Gardens have scheduled a pumpkin festival for the weekend of Oct. 13-14 at the Botanic Gardens extension near Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton. They will also host a corn maze at the same location every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 8. Find out more by calling (720) 865-3515.
The Denver Art Museum, located
next to Civic Center Park downtown, offers a change of pace from looking
at Ferris Bueller posters in your dorm room. Admission is free every first
Saturday of each month. The next free day will be Oct, 5. The exhibit "Artisans and Kings" opens Oct. 5. A screening of the film "Ridicule" will be held Saturday, Oct. 6. Make sure to visit the new addition to the museum across West 14 Avenue. Information is available online or by calling
(720)-865-5000.
For those over 21, the Stadium Inn at 1701 E. Evans Ave. was voted the best college bar in Colorado by www.citysearch.com. This bar is just several blocks west of the campus.
There is life outside the dorm room, there is plenty more out there, so go and explore.
