MySpace tour impresses fans

The popular social networking site MySpace brought its first MySpace Music Tour to Denver's Paramount Theater Saturday that featured HelloGoodbye, Say Anything, Young Love and the Polysics.
The Art Deco design and layout of the Paramount are more suited to sitting and watching a play. Sitting still was the last thing on the rowdy crowd's mind. The small pit area in front of the stage was coveted by those trapped in the seated sections.
Although there was room for more people in the pit, the box office had declared the area sold out.
Unsatisfied with their seating, droves of fans began to make their way down to the pit, which was separated from the seats by a tiny metal fence, which did not prove to be much of an obstacle.
In the meantime, the opening band Young Love had taken the stage. The electro-indie band started well as the lead singer, Dan Keyes, bounced across the stage.
The songs were catchy and enjoyable but half way through the set the band began to lose its energy and the audience's affection.
The appearance of Say Anything sparked the breach of the pit's railing by fans wanting to dance. Say Anything hails from Los Angeles and its songs always possess a sense of sarcasm, irony and wit.
One favorite was "Every Man Has a Molly," a song in which lead singer Max Bemis directly attributes his revealing lyrics to the demise of his relationship.
Relationship topics are also found on Say Anything's new CD, In Defense of the Genre, which comes out today. The rest of the set featured a mix of new and old material including the new single "Baby Girl I'm a Blur."
HelloGoodbye ended the show with its synthesized power-pop. The band played hits from its MySpace profile as well as other popular songs, including "Here in Your Arms" and "Oh, It Is Love".
During the set, a band member began to play a melódica, a Spanish instrument that is a keyboard played by blowing into it like a flute.
The concert was a hit for MySpace, even though the venue was not
completely packed. Thanks to the website the attendee's of the show were able to discover music they enjoy.
The audience left with smiles on their faces since they now have a say in what artist make it big.
