The spring season for the women's golf team will kick off for DU next Monday through Wednesday at the Northrup Brumman Regional Challenge in Las Verdes C.C.

Denver will then get a couple weeks off before traveling to College Station, Texas between March 7 and 9 for the Texas A&M "Mo" Memorial. DU will then make trips to Lincoln, Calif., Tempe, Ariz., and to Muscle Shoals, Ala. for the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Although the finish to the fall season was not desirable by the women's golf team their start was something to remember. The Pioneers posted first place finishes at the prestigious Topy Cup in Tokyo, Japan, the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate that they hosted and the Las Vegas Showdown. DU also finished seventh out of 16 teams at the Mercedes Benz Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. In the final tournament of the fall season the Pioneers finished in a tie for 11th out of 16 teams in the unconventional match play styled Hooters Championship.

Denver's junior Katie Kempter was selected as college player of the week by Golf World during the period of October 29 to November 4 when she collected her first full-field collegiate win at the Las Vegas Showdown. Also adding to the awards was sophomore Stephanie Sherlock who won the individual title at the Ron Moore tournament and was recently selected to the 2008 Canadian Amateur Golf Team Program.

The Pioneers finished the fall season with a 44-6 record and a current No. 5 ranking in Golfweek.

The Pioneers captured the Sun Belt title last season for the fourth consecutive year and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history where they finished in 20th place.
