Engaging student

leaders

The Colorado Campus Compact (CCC) is convening high school and college students from around the state this Friday for a dialogue titled, "RAZE the Machine: Rebuild our Democracy" in order of its 16TH anniversary.

Two student facilitators will lead a debate on why Colorado students are directly serving their communities at some of the highest rates in the country while their levels of political disengagement are also at an all-time high.

The discussion will end with recommendations to state legislators, foundations and the Campus Contact Board members on what must be done to reverse this trend.

Local government representatives will be in attendance alongside members of Project Vote Smart, Democracy Matters and Common Cause and the Civic Canopy. Overall, 300 college presidents, students, scholars and service-learning staff will be in attendance.

The event is taking place at the Chapel and University Event Center (located in the College of Business) at Johnson & Wales University. A panel discussion will be held from 9:30-11:45 a.m. followed by a lunch and a number of afternoon sessions.
